ADRES 2007-2008 (click here for Curriculum)

The ADRES program started out in March 2003 as HOLA: Hispanic Olathe Leadership Academy. This year we are giving the opportunity for any student that would like to be a part of a diverse group. The program has been bilingual (Spanish/English). Starting this year it will be a diverse audience and mainly in English. It is an organization that gives students an opportunity to make dreams a reality. They will learn how government and education can make that possible.

Mission

To provide the Olathe student youth an environment where they can develop their leadership skills and emerge as school and community leaders.

Strategic Directions:

Create young leaders for the present and future.

Create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for students who share a different language and culture.

Develop relationships among peers and adult mentors.

Educate students about citizenship, local, state and federal government and their roles as advocates of their culture and language.

Goals:

  1. Increase the opportunities for ADRES students to become engaged in local, state and world issues.

  2. Provide an environment that advocates the importance of their role in the community.

  3. Increase ADRES students’ participation in other Youth Services Programs.

  4. Continue to sustain mentorship opportunities through the Olathe Evening Optimist Club.

  5. Provide ongoing relationships with the National and the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

  6. Review and update goals on a quarterly basis.

  7. Increase the numbers of bilingual students that attend a post secondary education.
